LOTN: CHARACTER GUIDE
A group of Magicians, a religious Alchemist, a French Crusader, and Death, all have one thing in common -- they know the end is near. Visions of an apocalyptic future and the discovery of a book of magic, holding clues to the end of the world, reveal it may not be too late to save mankind. But they must face Demons trying to fight their way into our world using powers of possession to tempt, shape history, and collect souls -- hoping to build a massive army of the damned. And stop agents of the Dark who use black magic to uncover and influence the outcome of the Processions. The chosen few, fighting on the side of Light might have a chance to prevent evil from succeeding, but only with the help of other divine and supernatural forces. The entire weight of existence rests on their shoulders. War is coming as Fate has the two sides on a violent path toward Armageddon.
Reginald Black
An English stage magician haunted by a recurring vision of a man standing in a field as blood rained from the sky. Convinced the dreams were a warning, he founded the Order of Wormwood, a secret society consisting of real practitioners of magic, guising themselves as stage performers to strengthen their abilities, to one day defend mankind against evil forces. Tragically, Reginald's efforts would help create the very threat he feared, as his son, Orem, was tempted by the Dark, becoming a key figure in its designs for the end of the world.

Orem Black
As Reginald’s son, Orem was raised outside the Order of Wormwood as his father sought to protect the society’s secrets. That exclusion, along with the death of his mother, led to estrangement between father and son . But after witnessing something supernatural as a soldier during the Boer Wars, Orem became convinced his fate was to seek the Book of Amar, a text of magic rumored to be authored by Satan. Embracing the Dark, he later founded the Knights of the Black Serpent, dedicating himself to understanding and enacting the Processions to bring about a final war.

“The Great” Banerjee
A powerful Hindu Brahmin and mantrik, Banerjee was the seventh son of a seventh daughter, born with genuine magical abilities. A necromancer gifted in healing, communing with spirits, and manipulation of ethereal planes, he co-founded the Order of Wormwood alongside Reginald Black after the two shared a prophetic dream. Following Reginald's death, Banerjee served as the Order's leader as well as its moral and mystical anchor. Later cast into the Abyss by Orem Black, he continued the fight from within the void itself, using his powers to uncover Satan's designs.

Veera Sarin
Nephew of Banerjee, a gifted practitioner of magic, Veera was raised within the Order of Wormwood, trained in its true purpose from a young age. Present during Orem Black’s betrayal and the destruction of Black Manor, Veera was cast into the Abyss alongside his uncle, where he sharpened his abilities. Returning to the mortal world during World War II, Veera became a central leader among the forces of Light, standing against Dark threats.

Broderick Zayne
A 17th-century alchemist and religious philosopher. Zayne set out on a mission to destroy texts of magic, and 1684, while attempting to steal such a book, was banished to the Abyss. He remained lost in the void, until he was summoned back into our world in 1894. Passage through the ethereal realms rendered Zayne an Eternal, no longer bound by natural aging or death. In the modern era, he’d train in sacred magic and become a central figure in the resistance against Orem Black.

Gérard Roux
A French knight of the Fifth Crusade who became an Eternal after a direct encounter with Death. Living for centuries, Roux served at the Vatican in secrecy, operating from a hidden archives as a scholar of forbidden history and esoteric theology. He’d become Broderick Zayne’s mentor, training him in the Disciplina Arcani and later joining him, playing a central role in the Light’s covert war against the Dark.

Aolani
A powerful sorceress and Hawaiian kahuna whose life ended in 1731 when she was sacrificed to a volcano after her village was deceived by a demon. Preserved intact within the Abyss, she developed extraordinary abilities to bridge realms across space and time. Aolani would aid Veera Sarin and the forces of Light by opening portals between worlds and helping banish major agents of the Dark.

Joseph Frost
Orem Black’s childhood friend and the son of stage magician Fredrick Frost. Though lacking innate magical ability, Joseph became deeply entangled with the Book of Amar, surviving possession by its power and later serving as Orem Black’s second-in-command. His father’s sacrifice to become an Oracle bound Joseph further to the Dark, even as doubt and regret increasingly shaped his path.

Kasson
A demon whose origin traces back to ancient Egypt, where his soul was damned after committing the mortal sin of murder. Over centuries, Kasson manipulated key figures and events to advance the Dark’s plan, including orchestrating the dream that led Reginald Black to found the Order of Wormwood. He directly guided Orem Black toward the Book of Amar, masquerading as multiple figures, including Reginald himself within the Abyss. Kasson remains an active architect of the Dark’s long-term strategy.

Herakles
A Mycenaean warrior abducted from the battlefield by Satan and imprisoned alive within the Abyss after refusing command of Hell’s armies. While trapped, he summoned Kharos through a Hero Prayer, rendering him untouchable to corruption but leaving him stranded in the void. He later allied with Banerjee, Veera Sarin, and Aolani, assisting in their escape and joining the fight against the Dark in the modern world.

Heng Shao
A Shaolin monk gifted with supernatural motion magic allowing him to distort time and move with extreme speed. After exposing a demonic possession of a Yeti in 604, Heng summoned Kharos through a Hero Prayer, an encounter that left him undying. Heng later took a vow of silence, becoming a reclusive guardian who communicates telepathically, and trains select individuals for the war against the Dark.

Fredrick Frost
A skilled stage magician and a longtime associate of the Order of Wormwood, as well as the father of Joseph Frost. Though born without supernatural ability, he became deeply involved in Orem Black’s rise after the attack on Black Manor, ultimately aiding Orem’s escape and joining the Knights of the Black Serpent. In an effort to decipher the Processions, Fredrick willingly sacrificed his life to become a permanent vessel for an ancient Oracle, surrendering his body to serve the dark.

Death
The keeper of time, possessing knowledge of all universal laws and predetermined destinies set by Fate. He dictates birth and death and holds the power to extend life when permitted by cosmic law. Death oversees the Processions and acts as an impartial arbiter, aligned with neither Light nor Dark.

Kharos
A divine warrior, neither angel nor man, summoned through the Hero Prayer to confront overwhelming evil. Known across cultures by many names, he appears wielding different sacred weapons depending on era and place. Bound by universal law, Kharos exists solely to destroy monsters and protect humanity.

Before the dawn of man, a race of parasitic aliens, lost in the furthest reaches of the cosmos, crashed in what’s now Central Africa. With no way home, no chance at rescue, three voyagers survived, subsisting on the warm-blooded creatures that would eventually evolve into mankind. As civilization grew, the parasites retreated into the shadows, and through a process of simple transfusion, created others like them, giving rise to the myth of creatures that stalk the night -- Vampires. Quietly moving through history, the blood of the three spread like wildfire. But as with strength in numbers, would come a lust for power, pitting brood against brood, eventually igniting civil war. Blinded over the fight for the blood of man, hidden in their heritage is a key to unlocking the end of times.
Elizabeth Jovan (Ezath)
Part of a race of marauding ectoparasites that crash landed on Earth eons ago. The youngest of survivors, that became the foundation for the vampire myth. Ezath would set out into the world searching for experience, eventually migrating to Europe, where she alone was responsible for the growth of the vampire legend. She was also responsible for starting the Great Vampire War, after the death of her mate, Seamus Dillon at the hands of Victor Monfret.

Rah
One of the three original vampires that crash landed on Earth. On his home planet he was a master killer who oversaw invasions that eradicated entire worlds. But on Earth he wanted a fresh start, he’d travel to South America, imparting his knowledge in math and science to flourishing civilizations. When Spanish arrived and conquer the different regions in the 1400’s, Rah fled to Haiti, where he concentrated on the self-preservation of his brood while operating a sugar and coffee plantation.

Anu
One of the three original Vampires, on his home planet he was a master military tactician. On Earth he despised humans and saw them as inferior, a species fit to be conquered. Cruel and overbearing, he would play the part of a God, in Egypt. He would later lead a murderous band of mounted soldiers in Asia, known as the Devil Rider. He only offered one human his blood to turn them into an Underlings, but was rejected. Entering his Dark Era, Anu went on a killing spree, ending up in Japan.

Victor Monfret
Leader of the largest vampire Brood in North America. He gained his power and wealth by killing maker. He would later conspire with Royce, and attempt to kill Ezath for the purpose of seizing control over the vampire species. She would retaliate starting the Great Vampire War against them. Victor would flee fled to California where he and his army would fortify the city against invasion.

Royce (Otho)
A con-man, who was accidentally created by Ezath in ancient Greece. She would later reject him, becoming enemies in the process. He’d eventually make his way to America where he and Victor Monfret conspire to bring her down. During the Great Vampire War, he would be stay in the shadows, but was exposed, found living in New Orleans in 2005.

Keiko
Created by Anu, she spent her life as a vampire searching for her maker. She accidentally assaulted samurai, Renmaru Okayama, who she mistook for attacking her hunting partner, Aya. Ren became a vampire as a result and killed her in revenge for turning him into a monster.

Renmaru Okayama
A former Samurai and renegade vampire who would later hunt his own kind. He is responsible for killing two of the three original Vampires (Anu and Ezath). Ren would also serve as inspiration for Edwin Hawkes and the Nightwardens, keeping the night safe for mankind.

Levi Watkins
3rd generation of the Watkins clan to serve with the Nightwardens - a clandestine group that hunts vampires. His twin sister Mae was killed while attempting to hunt the vampire Royce in Chicago in 1901. Levi would spend the rest of his life unsuccessfully searching for Royce, to exact revenge.

Bernard Watkins
4th generation Nightwarden and father to Flora Mae Watkins. He would take up his father’s hunt for Royce. Singlehandedly killing around 300 of the creatures along the way. In 1991, following a lead on Royce, he was murdered by the vampire’s Underlings before he could carry out an attack on the compound where they were housed.

Flora Mae Watkins
A 5th generation Nightwarden. She would be forced to go into hiding after her father’s death. 10 years later she was inadvertently uncovered and went on the run, this time searching for answers about her past. She eventually joined the Nightwardens, assisted them in finding and killing the entire vampire species.

Werewolves live among us. Under the light of the moon, they seek to satisfy a curse, an unquenchable thirst for carnage they can’t escape. But the creatures are widely misunderstood, as werewolves are the closest beings to nature as they tread the line between the natural and the supernatural. Because of this, elemental powers grow deep inside them, connected to the pulse of the Earth, creating a purer form of magic than any kind in the universe. The immense pang of power fuels their berserk-like state, their only escape is to give in to their wild side. Varying by individual, werewolves hold command over Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Sound, or Light. With only the rarest, in control of Light. There are also rumors of the “one” possessing the power of all the elements. Unfortunately, werewolves, are solitary in their human form. knowing their affliction can rear its head at any time. Because of their reclusive nature, many go their whole lives without learning to harness their element or realizing the significance of their powers. They’re hunted, sought by Dark forces believing their amplified magic is tied to the Processions.
The Wolf Tribe
A prehistoric nomadic tribe, starving and near death, performed a ritual to reverse their fortunes. Cornering a great dire wolf in a cave, they slaughtered and consumed the beast in hopes of capturing its essence. But as night came, they transformed uncontrollably beneath the moon, taking on the wolf’s form and an insatiable hunger for blood, giving birth to the curse of the werewolf.

Uti
From the Iñupiat tribe, Uti received the curse after surviving an attack by a roving wolf pack. After living as a wolf for decades, He’d eventually returned to society, becoming an educated man and working with the U.S. military as a tracker. Through his travels, he developed an extensive knowledge of werewolves, chronicling the history of the species.

Samuel Mundey (Sem)
A warrior and leader of the Atooga Clan, a Neolithic culture that inhabited what is now the American Southwest. Sem became a werewolf at the hands of two former members of his tribe whom he had previously exiled. For centuries, he hunted his makers in pursuit of revenge.

Jones
A member of the Lewis & Clark expedition, Jones was kidnapped and given the curse by a shadowy, unnamed tribe. He withdrew from society and lived as a hermit. In time he began seeking out other outcasts and loners, passing on his curse. Known as the Jones Gang, they rode into mining towns and stole claims. Jones would eventually establish the werewolf settlement of Luna deep in the swamps of Florida.

Cuetlachtli
Abandoned as a child, he was raised by a tribe in the Cahokia settlement. As he grew older, his curse revealed itself, and many came to believe the boy was a god. After his tribe was wiped out by a storm, Cuetlachtli set out in search of others to worship him. When he was not met with the adoration he expected, he turned to fear, violence, and terror to claim it.

Thomas Crowley
A Black-Ops operative who was attacked by a Werewolf while on a mission in the Philippines. The curse quickly advanced an undiagnosed mental illness that sent Crowley down a dark path, turning him into a prolific killer.

Sara Ivy
Shy and introverted, Sara received the curse after surviving an attack by Thomas Crowley. Over time, she learned to control her change. But after a run-in with a serial killer, she shifted to protect herself. After, she found a new sense of empowerment, becoming a vigilante, helping survivors of assault fight back against their abusers.

Jakk and Brot
A chieftain and elder of the Atooga Clan, Jakk and Brot were exiled after Sem seized leadership of the tribe. In the wilderness, Jakk survived a werewolf attack and later passed his blood to Brot. Together, they used their newfound powers to seek revenge against Sem.

Honiahaka
A young warrior from an unknown tribe set out to claim his first kill. While tracking a buffalo on the plains, Honiahaka was caught between two battling werewolves. He escaped, but carried the curse with him.

Sinag
In 1791, Sinag came across Samuel Mundey hiding in the jungles of the Philippines. Attempting to help the stranger, Sinag was shot by Spanish soldiers occupying the island after Sam’s presence was discovered. To save his life, Mundey passed along the curse. Sinag would go on to become the basis for the Aswang legend, stalking the Philippine jungles for more than 150 years.

A deadly virus with the power to cripple mankind is released. A mutated form of septicemic plague, it reanimates the clinically dead and transforms them into ravenous, flesh-eating zombies. Though often mistaken for a simple infection, the virus has the potential to bring entire civilizations to ruin. Recorded outbreaks stretch back to ancient Mesopotamia, but the true origins of the plague are far more sinister. Created by dark forces as one of Satan's most powerful weapons against humanity, the Black Wind of Death was intended to spread destruction on an unimaginable scale. Dr. Haruki Ichikawa
A Japanese scientist responsible for the modern zombie plague. After witnessing his father's death at the hands of the undead as a child in 1905, he became obsessed with understanding—and ultimately controlling—the virus. During World War II, he weaponized the plague, intending to unleash it against Allied forces.

Larry Halford
An O.S.S. operative and later CIA agent who, dedicated his life to hunting Dr. Ichikawa and preventing the plague from destroying the world. After witnessing the virus’s devastating power firsthand in Burma in 1944, Halford formed a task force, vowing to stop the Black Wind at any cost.

Roy Starling
A former Army tank gunner who survived the outbreak in Burma during World War II. Serving as Larry Halford’s trusted right hand, Starling spent decades pursuing threats posed by the plague. He would later be assigned to the CIA outpost of Sedna.

Bhekizizwe
A Zulu warrior and member of the legendary zombie-hunting tribe, the Ababulali Bokufa. In 1290 BCE, after saving a band of travelers in the Egyptian desert, he was granted an audience with Moses, who offered him a glimpse of the sacred Ark of the Covenant. The encounter transformed Bhekizizwe into an Eternal, making him immune from death by the plague. became one of humanity's greatest weapons against the undead.

Winchell (Win) Wheeler
Son of a U.S. Senator and a budding anarchist, Win stumbled upon a vial of the Crimson Virus while accompanying his father on a diplomatic trip to Darvashir. Returning to the suburbs of Seattle, he founded a faux terrorist group composed of disaffected teenagers caught up by the idea of societal collapse through disease

Dr. Mei Lin Zhou
A communicable disease researcher recruited by Larry Halford to aid in the fight against the plague. Raised in the United States by Chinese immigrant parents, Zhou's pursuit of the virus was deeply personal. Her grandfather disappeared in northern China during the Japanese occupation, his name appearing as one of Dr. Ichikawa’s early test subjects.

Ba’el/Bellian Vale
A demon in disguise who appears throughout history to tempt, manipulate, and guide mankind toward unleashing the Black Wind of Death. Seeking out the ambitious, the desperate, and the power-hungry, he preys upon humanity’s darkest impulses, guiding the virus’s evolution and spread. From the shadows, Vale has helped transform a deadly plague into a threat capable of consuming the world.

Anne Hyde
A young castaway infected on the Island of the Dead. After being recovered in a fisherman’s net, she was captured, sold, and displayed as a curiosity in Sean O’Bannon’s traveling carnival. As the infamous “Living Dead Girl,” Anne was carried across continents as a spectacle, unwittingly helping spread fear, death, and the virus itself.

Dr. Vincent Clarke
An American military scientist who led Project Easter, the United States’ first exploratory zombie research program in 1938. Recognizing the virus’s immense danger, Clarke recommended the project be abandoned before it could progress further. His warnings stemmed from a belief that some weapons were too destructive to control.

Dr. Charles Wahl
Creator of a powerful variant of the virus, engineered for rapid replication and accelerated mutation, the pathogen was designed to spread faster than any known outbreak and overwhelm entire populations. Considered too dangerous even for military use, it was designated a “Doomsday Contingency”, with preserved samples secretly stored at the covert CIA outpost of Sedna.

Farouk Dastan
The authoritarian ruler of the oil-rich nation of Darvashir. Manipulated by Dr. Vale and driven by ambitions of power, Dastan oversaw the mass production of the zombie virus and turned it against his own population. Those actions, along with other deadly actions, plunged the region into chaos and ultimately led to war with Allied nations.

Salim Al-Hamdani
Son of a wealthy oil baron and leader of a paramilitary movement. After purchasing a vial of the Crimson Virus from Dr. Ichikawa in 1961, Al-Hamdani hoped to wield the plague as a weapon. But when his father's death left him politically isolated and financially ruined, he turned to Farouk Dastan for help. Instead, Dastan had him captured, and transformed into a zombie, using him as a living instrument of fear.

Fred & Pam Pike
Fred, a CIA operations officer and Larry Halford’s nephew, inherited command of the covert outpost of Sedna after Roy Starling’s retirement. Alongside his wife, Pam, he found himself caught in the vicious cycle of how the plague spreads when a containment bunker on the island, holding remnants of Dr. Charles Wahl’s “Doomsday Contingency” failed. The couple became casualties of the plague Halford and Starling spent their lives trying to eradicate.
