This is a biography of sorts...of individuals vital to the make up of an entire population. Born from a curse of anguish and pain, made through bloodshed or violence.

To those afflicted with the werewolf curse, it’s exactly that, a hex upon their lives, a lingering bane of existence. A heavy burden carried, shaping every breath, every choice.

The hunt, nose to the wind. Tracking, watching, waiting. Discerning clues from nothing. Uncovering trail by instinct. Days pass between promising leads and dead ends.

Family is life. Kinship, whether born of love or conflict, defines who we are, and more importantly, who we become. It is the first bond we know, and often the one that shapes us most completely.

Some legends start with a bang, others a whisper...and some yet, with a cry of a newborn baby. On a cold winters night in 610, in the emergent Mississippian culture in what would become the Cahokia settlement, a special child was born.

He called himself king, but the earth never answered. A Child of Nature without an element to claim. He wore titles like feathers with no bird to give them meaning.

Sharing a bloodline doesn’t mean sharing a fate. Blood carries memory, not destiny. Two souls can rise from the same source and walk in opposite directions, shaped less by what flows through their veins than by the choices they make beneath the same sky…

For almost 800 years, Sem vanished from the historical record. Darkness hollowed him out as he drifted without purpose, undone by the ruin the curse had carved into his life.

Sometimes being lost in the world isn’t a failure of direction. Sometimes it’s a blessing, a widening of the road when the past presses too close.

Wanting to start over can be its own kind of torment. The weight of unforgivable acts can haunt. And carrying a curse, no matter what good still lives inside, becomes the burden.

They set out toward a horizon that refused to be still. Intrepid men following unmapped rivers and trails carved by the world. Each step carried them farther from the known, into a land of staggering beauty.

As the untamed West opened, there were those who turned away from towns and cities, disappearing into the high country. Some sought boundless freedom, where days were measured by weather and distance, not time or names.

The Jones Gang rode across the South. Combing the New Mexico Territory, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama for a large swath of private land, hidden from the outside world...but with no luck.

He called himself King, though there was no empire to answer the claim. No authority beyond his circle of followers who mistook certainty for power. He spoke as if the world bent towards him…

So often in history, the greatest contributions come not from conquerors or kings, but from those never meant to be remembered at all.

Waking up human again, Uti wandered. Having not been a man in nearly eight decades, it took him time to re-acclimate. The first days were hard, learning to walk and move upright again, and of course vocalizing.

After seeing beyond the veil of the curse, Uti had a deeper understanding of what he was. Two conflicting sides, man and wolf, locked in an endless struggle like day and night, unable to exist at the same time.

To see what others cannot isn’t a gift of sight, but of understanding. It comes from truths gathered, and the willingness to look where certainty breaks. And once that kind of insight takes hold, it cannot be unseen.

During the Cold War, to become part of the elite U.S. Army Special Forces meant more than surviving training. It meant being trusted with independence.
